المسد | Al-Masad

Twisted Strands

  • بِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

    In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.

  • تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

    1 Perish the hands of the father of flame, and perish he!

  • مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

    2 His wealth will not avail him, nor will what he earned.

  • سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ

    3 He will burn in a fire of flame,

  • وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ

    4 And his wife: — the carrier of firewood —

  • فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ

    5 Around her neck a rope of twisted strands.
