الطارق | At-Tariq
The Night-Comerبِسْمِ ٱللَّـهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
1 By the sky and the night-comer!
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
2 And what will convey to thee what the night-comer is?
ٱلنَّجْمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
3 The piercing star!
إِن كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ
4 There is no soul but has over it a custodian.
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
5 So let man look from what he was created:
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ
6 He was created from a gushing water,
يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
7 Issuing forth from between the loins and the breast-bones.
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِۦ لَقَادِرٌ
8 He is able to return him.
يَوْمَ تُبْلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
9 The day the secrets are tried,
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ
10 Then will he have neither power nor helper.
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجْعِ
11 By the sky full of returning!
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدْعِ
12 And by the earth full of cracks!
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ
13 It is a decisive word,
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلْهَزْلِ
14 And it is not in jest.
إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا
15 They plan a plan —
وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا
16 And I plan a plan.
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا
17 So grant thou respite to the false claimers of guidance; grant thou them respite awhile.
